Frequently Asked Questions

• We recommend purchasing jewelry during your appointment so that we can guarantee that the jewelry you select will be perfectly suited to your anatomy. Please keep in mind that there are no refunds or exchanges for body jewelry so if you purchase a piece online before your appointment and it is not suited to your anatomy, we will not be able to offer any refunds or exchanges. 

• If you’re interested in purchasing jewelry or placing a hold on any jewelry we have in the studio for your appointment, please reach out via email at avapiercing@gmail.com, fill out a contact form, or schedule a jewelry browsing appointment. 

  • For health and safety purposes, all sales are final. Please double check dimensions, material, gemstones, etc before making any purchases.

• If you are not confident in the style and size of the jewelry you need, then it’s best to select jewelry in person with a professional piercer but we’re happy to help as much as we can through email. If you’d like help with sizing, please fill out the form below. When submitting a photo of your piercing, please do not touch the piercing as it can distort the tissue and make it difficult or even impossible to size.

• If you need help with sizing in person, check out safpiercing.org to find your closest reputable piercer.

• We do not currently ship jewelry outside of the US but hope to in the future!

• When your jewelry is shipped out you will be sent a tracking number via email. All orders will be shipped on the next available business day. We are open Wednesdays-Sundays and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so no orders will go out on Mondays or Tuesdays.

• Yes! Please allow 48 hours to prepare your jewelry for in store pick up. We will send you an email when your jewelry is ready. If you need your jewelry sooner than 48 hours, please contact us via email at avapiercing@gmail.com or by phone at (951)587-4111 and we will do what we can to have your jewelry ready sooner. Please keep in mind that we are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. We likely will not have time to install jewelry set aside for in store pick up. If you need assistance installing jewelry, please schedule a jewelry change appointment.

• Absolutely! All of the jewelry we carry comes with a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty against damage or defect. Warranties do not cover jewelry lost or damaged due to negligence. If you are installing your jewelry at home, please ensure that it is secure and you are cautious to avoid damage. If you are using any tools to install your jewelry, please ensure that they are used properly to avoid scratching or breaking your jewelry. 

• In the event that jewelry does become damaged, please reach out to us with photos of the damaged jewelry so that we can assist with the repair process. 

• If you are unsure of how to install jewelry at home, please do not attempt to as jewelry that is damaged due to misuse may not be able to be repaired or installed in the future. 

• We understand that mistakes happen and so do the brands that we work with! If you have damaged your jewelry from mishandling it, please email us at avapiercing@gmail.com or submit a contact form below and we will reach out to the company who made it. In some instances, they can offer repairs for a small fee. 

We work hard to ensure that all inventory is up to date on the website but as new inventory comes in it may take us some time to update online inventory. 

Absolutely! Just fill out a contact form and we would love to help you place a custom order! 

Many piercers will work with jewelry purchased in their studio only for health and safety reasons. That is our studio’s policy as well. For this reason, we do not recommend purchasing jewelry to take to your piercer. In most cases, your piercer will be more than happy to help you order jewelry so we suggest talking to your piercer before ordering jewelry. 

All of the jewelry we stock is sold individually. If you’re looking for a matching set, you’ll want to order two. 

Custom Designs

Custom orders can be anything from ordering an item in a different color of gold to creating a one of a kind piece designed specifically for you! 

• To order a piece in a different size, orientation, gold color, or with different gems, contact us with the name of the piece or a photo of the piece and the changes you would like to make. Once we’ve determined that the alterations are possible we’ll send you a custom order form and a link to pay a 50% deposit for your piece. Once the jewelry arrives in the studio, we will contact you to either ship your order, prepare it for in store pick up, or for your piercing appointment. 

• Any pieces custom ordered will reflect current gold/gem prices and may not reflect current pricing. 

• If you are looking for a fully customized piece, meaning one that does not already exist from any reputable jewelry brand, please email us at avapiercing@gmail.com with photo references if available and a detailed description of what you are looking for. We will reach out to the brands we work with to see who will be the best fit for your design.

• In some situations, we may need to require a deposit to begin the design process. 

• Once your design has been perfected,we’ll send you a custom order form and a link to pay a 50% deposit for your piece. Once the jewelry arrives in the studio, we will contact you to either ship your order, prepare it for in store pick up, or for your piercing appointment. 

• BVLA: nearly endless custom design possibilities! This is our go-to company for fully bespoke jewelry

• Modern Mood: many custom design possibilities. They will create fully unique designs when possible. Many of their pieces can be ordered in 14k white, yellow, rose, and black gold but they do frequently release limited edition items that cannot be modified. Ring diameter and gauge options are limited.

• Tawapa: all solid 14k items can be ordered in white, yellow, and rose gold. All gold plated options (***we do not stock gold plated jewelry, work with gold plated jewelry, or place custom orders for gold plated jewelry***) can be ordered in solid 14k. Most seam rings can be ordered as clickers by request. Limited gemstone customization options. Ring diameter and gauge options are limited.

• Junipurr: all items can be ordered in 14k white, yellow, and rose gold. Gemstone customization is not available. 

• Body Gems: all items can be ordered in 14k white, yellow, rose, and black gold and with a large variety of gemstones. All ends are available in threadless, 16 gauge threaded, and 14 gauge threaded. 

• Ember: all items can be ordered in 14k white, yellow, and rose gold. Gemstone customization is not currently available. 

• Anatometal: all items can be ordered in 18k white, yellow, and rose gold and with a large variety of gemstones. All ends are available in threadless, 16 gauge threaded, and 14 gauge threaded.

Sizing and Jewelry Style Considerations

The gauge and diameter you need will depend on anatomy and piercing depth, please determine what size you need prior to ordering.

• Most piercings will need to be downsized after the initial healing process so the size you were pierced with may no longer be the size that you need

• You will need to know both the gauge (thickness of the jewelry) as well as the length of the jewelry you need in order to have properly fitted jewelry 

The diameter of the end that will fit in your piercing will vary based on your anatomy and the angle of your piercing. If you are looking at large ends or ends with charm attachments, please determine what size you need prior to ordering

• All ends and backings are sold separately

• Chains that do not fit properly can cause complications, please ensure you know the size you need before ordering

• Chains and charms work best in healed piercings only

• Please keep in mind that many charms and chains are considered delicate items

• Charms and chains will need to be attached to either a ring or a stud depending on the design that does is not includes. When purchasing charms, make sure you have something to attach them to

• The gauge and diameter you need will depend on anatomy and piercing depth, please determine what size you need prior to ordering

• Improperly installed seam rings can cause permanent damage to both your piercing and the jewelry, please ensure that you’re comfortable installing them before ordering

• Forward facing gem rings work best in daith, septum, and nipple piercings. If you are ordering this for another piercing please order a side facing gemmed ring

• Side facing gem rings work best in rook, nostril, ear lobe, navel, helix, and tragus piercings. If you are ordering this for a septum, daith, or nipple piercing please order a forward facing gemmed ring

• With the exception of septum and daith piercings, we will not install rings/hoops into fresh or healing piercings
