- Everyone over the age of eighteen must have a current, government issued, photo ID.
- Everyone under the age of eighteen must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian as well as documentation proving guardianship. The most common way to prove guardianship is with the minor’s birth certificate, minor’s photo ID (school ID, passport, state ID, or driver’s license), and the guardians photo ID.
- We begin offering ear lobe piercings at 8 years and older. We do not offer piercings for babies. For more information on age requirements and documentation requirements, check out Piercing Minors.
- It’s a good idea to drink plenty of water and eat a full meal before getting pierced.
- Wear clothing that is not likely to snag on your new piercing and will not be too tight against your new piercing.
- It’s not a bad idea to think of questions that you may have before getting pierced. We will always be here to answer questions after your piercing, too!
Probably not as bad as you think! We’re here to make this process as quick and painless as possible.
Healing times vary from piercing to piercing and person to person. We love to set up regular check ups for your piercing so that we can ensure the smoothest healing process possible! Check ups are always free of charge.
It’s important to wait until your piercing is mostly healed before submerging it into any body of water. Typically this is several months but will vary from piercing to piercing. If you swim regularly it’s a good idea to discuss this with your piercer prior to getting pierced.
We cannot use any jewelry that we cannot verify will be the proper size, shape, material, or quality. Most of our quality standards are set by the Association of Professional Piercers. Just like we don’t all wear the same size shoes or pants, we don’t all need the same size jewelry! When you come into our studio, you will be able to browse hundreds of options in store and you will have the opportunity to custom order even more pieces based on your individual style as well as what sizes and shapes work best for your anatomy!
- We do! Please feel free to call ahead to check current wait times.
- Please keep in mind that we cannot accept walk-ins at the end of the day to allow our staff to work only their scheduled hours.
- Scheduled appointments will always take priority over walk-ins so if you’re in a hurry or are unable to wait, please schedule an appointment.
• Upon booking you will be asked to input credit card information. Failure to cancel or reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours before your appointment, arriving more than 10 minutes late to your appointment, failure to bring in or upload all required documentation, and all no call/no shows will be charged a $30 cancellation fee per 30 minutes scheduled ($60 fee for hour long appointment, $90 fee for hour and a half long appointment.) If you need to cancel or reschedule due to an emergency please reach out to avoid your card being charged.
• When booking an appointment for a minor online, you will be asked to upload a photo of the minor’s birth certificate and no deposit will be charged. When booking an appointment for a minor over the phone, we require a $30 deposit/30 minutes booked. This is to ensure that the minor’s birth certificate is present on the day of the appointment. The deposit will come off the price on the day of your appointment but it will be used as a cancellation fee if necessary.
• A deposit is required for group piercing appointments for more than 3 people. For group piercing appointments of 3 people or more, please call (951)587-4111 to schedule.
• A deposit will be required for all clients with a no call/no show on file and for clients with multiple last minute cancellations. Please see cancellation policy and no call/no show policy below.
• Please be courteous to other clients who would like an appointment and your piercer who you’re scheduling with and only book appointments that you can make it to. We completely understand that unknown circumstances and emergencies happen but please try to cancel/reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours before your appointment.
• Upon booking you will be asked to input credit card information. Failure to cancel or reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours before your appointment, arriving more than 10 minutes late to your appointment, failure to bring in or upload all required documentation, and all no call/no shows will be charged a $30 cancellation fee per 30 minutes scheduled ($15 fee for a 15 minute long appointment, $60 fee for hour long appointment, $90 fee for hour and a half long appointment.) If you need to cancel or reschedule due to an emergency please reach out to avoid your card being charged.
• Please read through our price list before booking. It is your responsibility to budget for your appointment. We’re very available for questions and have jewelry browsing appointments available for you to view jewelry and get pricing prior to the day of your appointment.
• Please book only for the services that you plan to do during this appointment. Booking you in for an appointment that is longer than necessary takes away time from someone else who would like to get pierced but booking for a shorter appointment time than necessary may prevent you from doing everything you’d like during an appointment. If you’re unsure about what you’re looking to get done we’re happy to help you determine which type of appointment to schedule for!
A “no-show” occurs when a client fails to arrive for a scheduled appointment without providing advance notice of cancellation or rescheduling. To ensure fairness and the efficient allocation of our piercing artists’ time, we enforce the following policy:
• If you do not show up for your appointment without prior notice, you will be considered a “no-show” and charged the cancellation fee agreed upon while booking ($30/30 minutes scheduled, see “What is your Cancellation Policy?” above.
• In the event of a no-show you will be required to leave a non-refundable deposit equal to the cancellation fee ($30/30 minutes scheduled) that would have been charged for all future appointments.
• The non-refundable deposit collected will be applied towards the total cost of your piercing services on the day of your rescheduled appointment.
For your safety and the safety of our other clients, jewelry can not be returned and all sales are final. When picking jewelry we will be as informative as possible and do what we can to ensure you understand how your jewelry works, how it will fit, and what it will look like. It’s important to keep in mind that everyone has different anatomy so the exact same piece of jewelry or size of jewelry will likely look different on you than it would on someone else.
Yes! All of the manufacturer’s we work with offer a lifetime warranty against damage. These warranties do not cover lost jewelry or jewelry damaged due to neglect so it’s important to check your jewelry for tightness periodically and to take proper care of it. If you are unsure of how to check your jewelry for tightness, please reach out. Many gemstones can be damaged by using harsh chemicals so please be careful to avoid hair dye, sunscreen, peroxide, alcohol, etc on your jewelry.
The Basics
DO NOT touch, twist, or move the jewelry in your piercing. Avoid manipulating the surrounding area (e.g., please avoid folding your ear while cleaning).
DO NOT use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, soap, tea tree or other essential oils, or any other products on your piercing.
DO NOT use contact solution, homemade salt water mixtures, saline that is not in an aerosol spray can, or any other saline solutions with additives.
DO NOT soak your fresh piercing in pool, ocean, bath water, etc. OR in saline for the duration of the initial healing period.
DO NOT sleep on your piercing — we know this is hard to do! Piercing pillows can be a lifesaver! There’s a link to our favorite piercing pillow below.
DO NOT remove the jewelry in your piercing, even for a short period of time while healing.
DO NOT pick at your piercing or any build-up/crusties that accumulate.
DO be cautious to avoid snagging your piercing on clothing, towels, hair brushes, etc.
DO avoid direct contact between your fresh piercing and pets and other debris from things like exercise, gardening, etc. These activities are totally safe but it’s important to be cautious!
DO follow the cleaning instructions below — please avoid over cleaning!
DO periodically check your jewelry for tightness with clean hands and a clean piercing — if you can’t remember how your jewelry works, please reach out and we’ll be happy to help!
DO reach out with any questions and come in to all recommended check-up/downsizing appointments.
Cleaning
General Aftercare:
Flush your piercing 2-3 times a day with warm water and/or a sterile saline spray. After the first month, you can clean your piercing a bit less—check your 1-month follow-up email for more details!
Sterile saline spray should come in an aerosol bottle and contain only 0.9% sodium chloride and water. If you didn’t get any at your piercing appointment, check the link below for our favorite saline!
Build-up on your piercing is totally normal but shouldn’t be left to accumulate in excess. The easiest way to remove build-up is to loosen by spraying well with warm water in the shower and then to gently remove excess with a paper towel.
Rinse piercings well with warm water when you shower — there’s no need to use saline if you’re already cleaning with warm water, so you can use either saline or warm water interchangeably 2-3 times a day!
Always dry your piercing after cleaning with either a clean paper towel or a blow dryer. When using a blow dryer, set it to cool and low pressure, ensure it’s thoroughly cleaned, and dry for 30-45 seconds.
Oral Piercings:
For lip piercings, follow the general aftercare guidelines as well as the oral piercing guidelines below.
Rinse your mouth well with clean, cold water after eating, drinking, smoking, etc.
Use alcohol-free mouthwash normally. There’s no need to use more mouthwash than you typically use!
It’s a good idea to get a new toothbrush while healing an oral piercing.
Downsizing is EXTRA important for oral piercings to avoid tooth and gum damage.
What to Expect
Swelling, tenderness, and itching are all normal and will vary from person to person and from piercing to piercing.
You’ll likely notice a clear, yellow, or white secretion that can form some build-up (aka “crusties”) on your piercing.
Nearly all piercings will need to be downsized about 1 month after getting pierced. Keep an eye out for your reminder email if you haven’t already scheduled it, and check the downsizing diagram below!
Tips & Tricks
Stay well-hydrated while healing your piercing — it makes a huge difference in how your piercing heals!
Exercise and getting the proper amount of sleep are super helpful, too!
Check out our Troubleshooting page to learn about how piercings heal, what’s normal, and signs of irritation!
If you don’t want to clean your blow dryer and potentially change its filter, just cover your ear with a paper towel to block dust and debris.
Remember to avoid over cleaning — this can cause issues just like under cleaning can!
Septum and daith piercings do not need to be downsized. Industrial and navel piercings rarely need to be downsized. Eyebrow piercings do not always require downsizing. Tragus and forward helix piercings often stay swollen longer than other piercings. Many piercings benefit from being downsized 2 or even 3 times.
Sleeping with wet hair can leave your piercings damp and irritated, so make sure you dry your hair before bed or tie it up away from your new piercings!
It is important to remember that all piercings carry some risk of infection. Signs of infection may include, but are not limited to, redness, swelling, tenderness at the procedure site, red streaks extending from the procedure site toward the heart, elevated body temperature, or purulent drainage from the procedure site. If you have an irritated piercing, please contact us immediately. If you suspect your piercing is infected, seek medical attention right away.
Most piercings need to be downsized 4-6 weeks after getting pierced with few exceptions. Daith and septum piercings do not need to be downsized. When you get pierced, your piercer will discuss when you should come back in for downsizing.
• When you schedule an appointment, you’ll be asked to fill out some information about your piercing goals. You don’t need to know exactly which piercing you want or which jewelry you want before coming in – don’t worry, we’re here to help – but to ensure that we can offer the best experience to you and to other clients we’ll ask that you have at least a general idea.
• Our piercers will always give you advice on safety and will not offer unsafe piercings or piercings that are not suited to your anatomy. We specialize in styling and curations so your piercer would also love to assist you with aesthetic questions as well as safety questions.
• Styling appointments are available for those who want a bit more guidance during their appointment.
• Most piercings will heal best with a stud so for that reason, the only piercings we offer with rings are septum and daith piercings.
• We have a huge variety of studs to pick from ranging from simple discs to decorative clusters. The stud you are pierced with will need to be worn throughout the entirety of the healing process. To browse our current selection of studs, check out our online store.
• For more information on why rings are not ideal to pierce with, check out our Troubleshooting page.
- Everyone over the age of eighteen must have a current, government issued, photo ID.
- A school ID and birth certificate are not an acceptable form of documentation for anyone age 18 and up and parental consent does not allow us to pierce clients clients age 18 and up.
• Please keep in mind that our piercers, jewelry specialists, and all other staff members are not medical professionals. The information found on our website, social media profiles, and other forms of print either digital or physical should never be confused for medical advice. • We only stock and work with verifiable solid, nickel-free 14k gold, 14k gold, niobium, and ASTM F-136 titanium. All of these materials are non-magnetic. In most cases, discussing this with your doctor and/or technician will negate the need to remove jewelry for an MRI, X-ray, CT scan, and many other medical procedures. The only exception to this would be if your jewelry placement obstructs the procedure site.
• We keep all Safety Data Sheets and/or mill certificates regarding the material of the jewelry we stock on file, just reach out via email and we will send you copies to forward to your doctor. We recommend reaching out to your doctor’s office as soon as possible to discuss keeping your jewelry in during your procedure.
• In the event that you need to remove your jewelry for a procedure, we do offer Jewelry Removal and Reinstallation appointments. If you have a fresh or healing piercing, we’ll need to order a glass retainer with time to have it shipped prior to your appointment date. Please reach out to us via phone or email and we’ll assist in the ordering process. All glass retainers installed must be in their original packaging from Glasswear Studios. Aside from appropriately sized glass retainers from Glasswear Studios, we do not install any jewelry purchased outside of the studio, including plastic or silicone retainers.
• Check out this article of That’s the Point for more information!
